I finished up 3 more memory quilts this past week.  I was keeping them under wraps until the owner picked them up.  Here they are....

New Quilts

Last week I received not one, not 2 but 5 new requests for custom quilts!  Thanks to all of my former clients who are happy to pass on my name.

The first of the 5 quilts is to be a quilt for a new baby.  This is a memory/baby quilt for a repeat client of mine. Over the years she saved various articles of clothing from her daughter and son.  Her son blessed her with her first grandchild in 2013. It was then that I made this quilt for her.

 Some of my long time readers may remember see this on my blog.  Now with the addition of her second grandchild, this time it's her daughter's turn.  The new grandbaby's quilt will be as different as her two children.  This newest quilt will be modern and sleek and full of surprises.  I am pleased and excited to be making this newest quilt for her and Honored to have her as a return client.

The next quilt is a client who recently lost her mother.  She is having me make 2 memory table runners and one lap quilt.  The lap quilt is for the daughter who wanted the quilt made from her grandmother's favorite red and black tops.  I pondered over this a while.  I really felt a traditional quilt block setting would not quite suit the daughters tastes. Yet, I wasn't exactly sure how to honor the style of the grandmother clothing.  Then once again the internet pulled through.  I was reading my blog roll on Bloglovin' and came across the perfect quilt design.

I sent off a picture to my client who thought it was the perfect answer.  As of now I have the HST made and laid out.  A few minor adjustments and we will be ready to sew!

The next 2 quilts I am working on are still in the planing and gathering faze.  Both will be long table runners.  One in the reds and blacks pictured above and another in teal and pink.  I have yet to decide on a fabric to complement the clothing.

The last quilt is another t-shirt graduation quilt.  Tis the season.

Memory Table Runners

If you have a Dinning room table chances are at one time or another you have had a table runner displayed.  I have several that I rotate throughout the year.  Some are old, very old, crocheted by my great grandmother. Some are quite new.  Regardless I think they add an element of sophistication to my Dinning table.

Several months ago I was contacted by a woman to make a memory quilt for her from her mother's clothing.  After that project was complete she asked me to make 3 table runners from several of her mothers clothes.  I have to say initially I was skeptical.  I wasn't sure how the clothes with interfacing fused to the back would lay and if it would look right as a table runner.  Well as soon as I had the first set of squares cut out I knew... it would be perfect.

I ended up making three total.  All bright and cheery.

I used 3.5 inch squares set on point, 66 total made from items of clothing that have special meaning for the owner.  The half triangles for each table runner is fabric picked to coordinate with the clothing.  For the quilting I quilted a simple stitch in the ditch to accentuate the diamond pattern.

The table runners turned out spectacular.  I am very pleased with the pattern and may have to make one of my own. Someday..

Memory Quilt

A couple of months ago I was contacted by a woman who had recently lost her mother.  She had heard about some of the t-shirt quilts I had made and wondered if I would be able to make a quilt our of her mothers clothing.  After seeing that she had more than enough clothes I set to work on this beauty.

She had chosen a lattice quilt pattern to set off the prints and patterns in her mother's clothes.

It took me just over 21 hours to complete this 78"X105" quilt.

I quilted an all over meandering heart pattern which complements this quilt perfectly.

 Off it goes to it's forever home.

The past few weeks I have been working on a t-shirt quilt for a soon to be graduating senior.  I love graduation quilts.  They are filled with such sweet memories of the past and such hope for the future. This quilt is working it's way towards the long-arm machine.  It's battling for my time with the stomach bug I have been trying ever so hard to discard. Sigh.  I had hoped to have it finished today,  so that binding could commence this weekend, but sadly no.  But soon.  I hope.

Another T-shirt Quilt

It's Done.  Finished.  The End.  And if I must say.....It looks Fabulous!

Her owner wanted the #23 added to the quilt around the yellow towel in the center.  I gave her 2.  One a bit bolder than the other.

Coming in at 78" X 98" she is just shy of a queen size quilt. And HEAVY.  All packed up and ready to be shipped off to her new home. :)

I cannot believe another week has already flown by.  Wednesday I had every intention of sitting down and writing.  But, before I knew it,  Friday was here.  This week has been a blur of cut, sew and press as I have been working on a t-shirt quilt for a client.

It's always a challenge to get all of the t-shirt blocks into a configuration that both is visually appealing and approved by the client.  After many, many switches I finally was able to settle on one.

The white central block was a request by the client, which showcases specific t-shirts that are important to her. She then chose black fabric to surround the exterior blocks.  I think it turned out great!

I am happy to report that the quilt top is now finished.  Yahoo!
